Shadowrun Homebrew – Civilian Drones

Shadowrun Homebrew – Civilian Drones

The fluff seems to indicate that drones are an every day part of life but I don’t seem to see any specs or model information on drones that should probably exist. Like I was reading rigger 5.0 and got excited about the EVO Krokodil. At first I thought it was an inexpensive tank jetski (which I then made such a vehicle with an EVO Flacon with amphibious mode) and thought I might useful as a storage hauler for long trips behind the falcon, but it makes no mention any storage capacity (what is it for then? Just surveillance I guess?). So then I thought maybe their was some other drones for travelers, like automated tracked luggage (or scooter suitcases) or for fancy people, a walking armoire. I read elsewhere trailers aren’t mentioned anywhere either (Besides the airstream motorhome) but none of the drones are meant as cargo carries? No simple grocery carriers? How are the packages and pizzas being delivered? They have the ares mule but it listed as large drone meant to carry a whole squads supplies into the wild, not follow behind you on the street. I suppose you could use anthros for that, but I thought they were not supposed to be mainstream and it seems excessive for just small cargo.

Am I misunderstanding drone body rules for cargo?

Any other civilian drones you think should exist and how would we spec them?

EDIT: So it seems Stolen Souls make some mention of delivery and janitorial drones, but not what I am looking for. Rotodrones everywhere for small deliveries makes sense, but I think with that mentality most won’t have them following them for luggage, they would be flying overhead at drone airspace level (Imagining between 30-50″)in designated corridors and zones, only dropping down for deliveries in Drone Authorized Loading Zones. Plus the noise they would make any lower.

So I imagine personal drones in urban spaces would be limited to Mini air drones (Mouse to alarm clock size, Big enough to be seen, but small enough to be unintrusive, Personal mefeed drones for example) and small sized ground drones (Toaster to a large dog, Big enough to avoid accidentally kicking or stepping on, but small enough to not impede foot traffic, Auto follow suitcases for example) Professionals would be authorized Small Air drones (News camera to film you or infrastructure inspectors directing their scanners) and small to medium ground drones (Medium being biig dog to average human size, Big enough for janitorial or equipment carriers and larger delivery vehicles). Large personal (Troll to Motorcycle sized) drones would be limited to designated ground lanes and drone loading zones, local government drones (Police barricades, Medical evac drones) would exempted. This is not to say you would be allowed to own other drones, just that taking them where they are not supposed to be will most likely get attention and a ticket.

But responses have given me an idea how to make what I want (Especially to enter into Chummer). Select a drone of similar size, stats, and powertrain, and just modify the notes to explain its new model information. For example:

small walking luggage drone, Based off

Aztechnology Crawler 4 3 1 3 3 4 3 — 4 4,000¥This small crawler can easily handle stairs and other obstacles. Designed to operate as a remote snooper in rough rural or urban terrain, the Crawler is effcient and robust. Its Pilot program is a step above most drones in its class. This drone is operated with the Pilot Walker skill.

And so:

Horizon Pearwood

I imagine a full size hard suitcase that once packed, picks itself upright, walks after you, can be directed to get in an out of vehicle, and sets up in the hotel closet ready to use.

Medium Rolling roadie drone Based off

RUHRMETALL MURMILLO Ruhrmetall Murmillo 3 1B 1 5(0) 12 2 1 10E 8.000 € (SAG 66)

This powerful, chest-high chain drone was specially designed for counterinsurgency and for use Major events such as football matches and concerts developed. In addition to its main function as mobile barrier and mobile cover for emergency services has They have a weapon mount and a torso-integrated flash pack to attract aggressive groups

Similar models: Shiawase Domaru, Ares Walking Wall

And so:

Ares Roadie

Self propelled roadie cases for show equipment or performer costumes. Would still need stats for a trailer to load them on for transport, but maybe their is a similar model that could be hitched and pulled with damaging the treads?

Large Walking Armoire, Based off

ARES MULE (LARGE DRONE)HANDL SPEED ACCEL BODY ARM PILOT SENS AVAIL COST4 1G 1 4(3) 6 2 2 4 8,000¥

And So:

Shiawase Hinoki

A larger than average meta-human height walking lacquered wardrobe. It can walk into a hotel room, position it self and open up for clothing selection. While it works well for clothes, some speculated the line came about as a more discrete to store and transport Shiawase’s own I-doll line, for which they do discretely offer a dedicated modification (An improvement over the shipping crate station they are stored in otherwise). The fact that is meta-human sized has not been lost on private security forces and it has been uparmored and used to get VIPs out without drawing extra attention. The Drone is too large for most vehicles and would require a trailer or a pick-up truck to transport, however they also offer the Estate Carriage Vehicle modification which extends the rear of the vehicle like a station wagon for a dedicated drone carry space.

    • Station Wagon? More like a hearse. Fitting since it will often be carrying a lifeless body.

  • Gingerznap

    • Heh, I know you’re referring to the i-doll, but If the target owns one and refuses to cooperate, it is good way to get their body out of the building.

  • Dregner

    • Hey! They stolen the marketing name for the upgrade from Evo! I consulted on the Evo Cassone (The better designed model if you asked me) and that was what they planned to use to sell the vehicle mod. Which one of you drek-heads snatched up the marketing? I might have a job for you.

  • DoraHima

This would still stats for a trailer, but now I imagine some kind of higher end trailer wealthy people would use.
